Litecoin su MtGox

Recenti ed insistenti rumors affermano che l'inserimento dei Litecoin sulla piattaforma MtGox sia sempre più certa. La mia personale opinione è che bisognerà aspettare ancora qualche mese (Dicembre/Gennaio). Sarebbe una notizia strepitosa per tutti quelli che credono in questa cripto moneta. Questo il comunicato stampa ufficiale di MtGox di qualche giorno fa:

Dear Customers,

As we have announced yesterday on October 10th, we had made server maintenance that was aimed at fixing the issues we had with our database which was causing it to lag (occasionally) for up to 10~15 minutes at a time (causing the site to be down for that duration).

Since May 2013 we have been planning to implement a new infrastructure using the best hardware available, and have finally reached the point where we are ready to launch.

Due to more frequent issues with our database, and as the 10Gbps adapter on our old server started having problems (random packet loss, etc), we deemed it necessary to implement the new infrastructure and organized this emergency maintenance.

Some highlights of the new infrastructure:
- 70Gbps internet uplink
- Directly connected to Akamai, to ensure that DDOS attacks cannot take our site offline
- Up to 240Gbps internal bandwidth between our routers (meshed 40Gbps links)
- Fully redundant network
- Each server has two 10Gbps uplinks to two different routers
- Database stored on Violin Memory arrays (6000 series)
- All servers directly ordered from Dell, with redundant power supplies

Thanks to the Violin Memory storage arrays we are able to achieve very high storage bandwidth and access speed (i.e.. in terms of how fast it goes, not only how much data can go through) that reduces the load of our database administrators a great deal.

Finally, the implementation of this new infrastructure is a prerequisite before we can initiate Midas. There is still a lot of work to be done before we can launch Midas but rest assured this is a priority project for us. Once Midas is up and running we will be able to offer the trading of other digital currencies.

Primi prezzi per le nuove GPU ATI Radeon R9 270X e 280X

Su ePrice sono usciti i primi prezzi (anche se le schede non sono ancora effettivamente disponibili attualmente alcuni modelli sapphire sono disponibili) delle nuova gamma di schede Radeon. Aspettiamo di vedere i primi benchmark concreti applicati al mining di Litecoin. Non si tratterà di sicuro di una vera rivoluzione (i processori grafici sono rimasti gli stessi), ma speriamo che almeno l'uscita dei nuovi modelli faccia calare il prezzo dei vecchi o scateni il mercato dell'usato. Se qualcuno vuole fare da apripista e dirci come vanno non aspettiamo altro!

Il prezzo dei Litecoin torna a salire

Dopo un calo dovuto probabilmente alla paura dei meno esperti investitori causato dalla chiusura di Atlantis/Silkroad e dall'attacco a bitcointalk.org, i Litecoin nelle ultime ore hanno assestato un deciso rialzo seguito da un fisiologico rimbalzo in negativo. Credo che chi come me ne ha approfittato per acquistare in questi giorni in cui il prezzo è andato ben al di sotto dei 2€ avrà qualche soddisfazione a breve! O almeno lo spero!

Chiuso Silk Road e bitcointalk.org attaccato e attualmente down

Nelle ultime ore abbiamo assistito a 2 eventi molto importanti per la loro enorme portata:
-Silk Road è stato chiuso dell'FBI e arrestato Ross William Ulbricht, conosciuto anche come "Dread pirate Roberts".
-Bitcointalk.org  (il forum "ufficiale" ed enorme risorsa per chiunque segua l'evolversi dei bitcoin) è sotto attacco hacker e offline da parecchie ore. Pare che abbiano anche rubato i dati di 150.000 account (per precauzione cambiate password se ne avevate di uguali a quella del sito).

Tutto questo si sta ripercuotendo sulla stabilità delle criptomonete, precipitate al momento della conferma della chiusura di SilkRoad e ora in un rimbalzo più o meno stabile.

Questo il comunicato di bitcointalk.org:

Unfortunately, it was recently discovered that the Bitcoin Forum's server
was compromised. It is currently believed that the attacker(s) *could* have
accessed the database, but at this time it is unknown whether they actually did
so. If they accessed the database, they would have had access to all
personal messages, emails, and password hashes. To be safe, it is
recommended that all Bitcoin Forum users consider any password used
on the Bitcoin Forum in 2013 to be insecure: if you used this
password on a different site, change it. When the Bitcoin Forum
returns, change your password.

Passwords on the Bitcoin Forum are hashed with 7500 rounds of
sha256crypt. This is very strong. It may take years for
reasonably-strong passwords to be cracked. Even so, it is best to
assume that the attacker will be able to crack your passwords.

The Bitcoin Forum will return within the next several days after a
full investigation has been conducted and we are sure that this
problem cannot recur.
